This is a vintage cast iron corkscrew with a thick, heavy-duty handle and a rugged build, likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. It appears to be an American-made piece, possibly for commercial or industrial use in a bar, tavern, or apothecary setting.
There is a stamped marking on the end of the handle. Due to wear and corrosion, its difficult to read clearly, but it may say WILLIAMSON CO or something similar (see close-up photos). Williamson Co. of Newark, NJ was a known manufacturer of corkscrews and openers during this period, though this attribution is not confirmed.
Condition:
Aged patina with visible surface rust.
Marking is worn but partially legible.
One visible crack in the stamped end (see photo).
Screw appears straight and complete.
Sold as found no cleaning or restoration done.
Approximate Dimensions:
Handle Length: 3.5”
Total Length: 5”
Whether youre a collector, restorer, or lover of antique ironwork, this piece has great character and potential.
