During the Late Victorian and Early Edwardian eras, Carlsbad’s porcelain houses embraced rococo revival style, combining romantic Fragonard-inspired courting scenes with high-relief scrollwork and gold trim. Such pieces were popular in parlors that elevated hot-chocolate service to an art form. This pot’s crisp moldwork, intact lid, and luminous glaze make it an outstanding survivor of that refined age.
