Antique Book The First Communicant's Manual Feb. 7, 1888 Benziger Brother's Purple Velvet Brass Boards Benziger Brother's Printer to the Holy Apostolic See New York, Cincinnati, and Chicago 476 Pages. 4" x 3" x 1" Attached, very thin, blue cloth bookmark. Signed in pencil on the very last page in script: Edith Fix First Communication Book June 20, 1897 Beautiful purple velvet cover (board) on brass. Intricate brass filigree on the cover (board) along with a hand carved, white raised celluloid Cross. There is a brass latch closure. Without doubt, the most elegant of decorated edges, and the one most proper to a book, which is intended to be elaborately tooled in gold, is a gilt edge. This book's edge is exquisite. The inside of the boards, front and back, are in stunning gold thick paper with and elaborate floral design in green. This book is incredibly lovely and we can not find another one. We have a very large antique and vintage book collection soon all to be listed. We consider the condition of this book to be absolutely fantastic. A bit of wear on the binding.
