The Great Titmouse, Rare, Illustrated February 1st, 1795. This print is 229 years old! Plate 201 from Shaw and Nodders Naturalists Miscellany published in 1795. Purchased 26 years ago from blue Chip art gallery in NYC Les Kafka. Has remained in a temperature controlled closet ever since. Being sold separately, but there are other bird prints from the same collection here. Bundle, and save on shipping. Very attractive. Intense colors. Excellent condition. Some toning. Light soiling. Age appropriate. Illustrator is Frederick Polydore Nodder (1770– 1800). FP Nodder was a British natural history artist who illustrated both plants and animals. His images are highly refined, and executed with the most creepiest adherence to nature. His plates are printed on the best paper. The paper is 6 x 9”, but the edge of the plate (the image) is 7.25” x 4.25”. I have posted a photo with the image area.
