Antique Bird Print Rare, Hand Color Engraving, 6” x‎ 9”, 1799

Bird is an Indian darter, Anhinga Melanogaster. Nearly threatened. Created March, 1799. This print is 225 years old! Illustration drawn and engraved by Richard Polydore Nodder (1770-1800). Purchased 26 years ago from blue chip art gallery in NYC: Les Kafka. Has been stored in a temperature controlled room ever since. Excellent condition some toning lights oiling age appropriate. FP Nodder was a British national natural history artist who illustrated both plants and animals. His images are highly refined, and executed with the most scrupulous adherence to nature. His plates are printed on the best paper.
