For your consideration is this antique Bread Butter Plate produced by Theodore Haviland of Limoges, France. The bottom of the plate bears two marks. Underneath the glaze is an embossed "T" and "H" with a line above and symbol between the two letters. According to Haviland China: The Age of Elegance by Nora Travis, this mark corresponds with mark M. This mark was used from 1894 until 1957. Over the glaze, the piece is marked "Theodore Haviland / Limoges / FRANCE" in red. This mark matches to mark Q in the book indicating this was made in 1903. This lovely plate has a scalloped edge with an embossed Etruscan pattern underneath the glaze and hand applied sponged-gold accents. The plate is decoration is number Schleiger 145. This decoration is a transfer and consists of multiple dainty garlands of Pink and Yellow roses with greenery. The plate is porcelain and measures 6.4 inches in diameter.
Condition: Seller observed a few fleabite chips on the underside inner rim and some discoloration. Seller has steam cleaned plate prior to photographing and listing.
