Antique George Masons Ironstone 6" Plate Water Lily Pattern The impressed "Mason's Patent Ironstone China" mark and no additional stamp, is a known early production piece of the Water Lily pattern, dating to around 1813-1820. This impressed mark was one of Mason's earliest and generally indicates manufacture within the first few years of the patent being granted in 1813.
The "Water Lily" plate is a valuable collectible featuring a rich, polychrome Imari-style design with a central water lily, flowers. Colors: Cobalt blue, burnt orange, celadon green and pink with gilt accents. Belonging to the Georgian period, it is prized for its artistic detail and the robust ironstone material.
It is in overall good antique condition for it's age with signs of wear on paint / any markings appropriate to age, but no chips or cracks. Please not that these are over 200 years old. See photos for further condition / size measurements. Zoom in for most helpful review of condition. Stand not included.
The plate has an ironstone body from durable earthenware. The basic outline of the "Water Lily" pattern was applied using transfer printing. After the transfer print was applied and glazed, details were hand-painted with bright enamel colors and often finished with rich gilding (such as 22-carat gold) by skilled workers.
