this is a very old antique top quality Oriental jewelery box with 4 large slabs of authentic too quality yellow jadeite hand carved by an amazing artist and there is at least 200cts of the rare high end yellow jadeite carved with the sides being a floral scene and the front 2 being a even larger floral scene I can't state how beautiful and well done the jade is carved I don't think I have ever scene better hand carving work anywhere maybe as good just none better . the hardware of the box is all hand etched and riveted brass also extremely well done and all of the hardware is original and is in working condition and polished up would almost look new. the inside of each drawer is silk and the entire jewelery box is in original condition. I found 2 very similar to this online one was sold at auction in 2015 by southerbys and it went for $13,750 and one at an auction in Vermont sold for $9,250. and neither were in better condition than this . I got this at a antique shop in New Jersey last week and I was told it belonged to the owners great grandmother and he had to be at least 65+ in age. there are no modern parts and no repairs on the box and it is all in original condition. this is a diamond I found in a mountain of pebbles one of my better finds nobody would be disappointed with this beautiful piece of history..

This is not from the1700's it is from Mao's Peoples Republic of China 1949 at the oldest. The Made in China tag shown, dates it very specifically.

I have an almost identical item. My son bought it for me at TJMAXX a number of years ago. It cost no more than $20. I hope you paid not much more than that. Please do more better research; both from purchasing & pricing. Best of luck.

@goodfox I definitely agree. I had one just like it that my great uncle brought back from some war. it was in better condition and it was no where's near what you are asking. unfortunately my friend it sounds like you got taken for a ride. it's a hard, bitter lesson to learn, and it's not fair that people are not better to each other. I wish you luck.

@pdmcd well I am sure t The one from T.J Maxx was gorgeous however it was not what is pictured here. The maid in China sticker is as the one lady said from no later than 1949 He's often where sold to the soldiers coming back from the Vietnam war and they were more like little trinkets to bring back to their wives or girlfriends or what have you but I'm sorry sweetie they did not sell this brand there. it's too old

My mother had this exact same box given to her in the 60’s in California (Chinese origin obviously) And with all due respect, this is missing the brass lock & key. I wish it were worth what you think it is, but it isn’t. Still beautiful though.
