Anglo-Irish Glass Fold-Over Rim Centerpiece, late 1800s-1900s
Rare Anglo-Irish Regency turnover glass centerpiece bowl dating to the late 18th or early 19th century, possibly produced by the Cork Glass Company. This impressive pedestal centerpiece features the distinctive heavy “turnover” or fold-over rim closely associated with Irish glass of the period. The circular bowl displays fine diamond-pattern detailing beneath a wide folded rim with a continuous band of fluted decoration. It is raised on a short narrow socle and finished with a substantial square pedestal base of heavy lead crystal. Early Irish glass was typically unmarked, and it was not uncommon for crystal & glass to be combined within a single piece. Compact yet weighty, with excellent balance & strong Regency proportions, this is a striking example of early Anglo-Irish table glass. Provenance from a Spokane, Washington estate collection.
Condition is very good for age. Minor chips to the underside corners of the base, light scuffs and internal striations within the bowl, and attractive age wear to the underside of the base consistent with use. No repairs noted.
Measures approximately 7 7/8 inches tall x 8.5 inches diameter.
