Ancient Egyptian calendar on dark papyrus. This hand painted papyri features the 12 signs of the Zodiac. Horus (shown 8 times) along w/ 4 goddesses represent the months. Horus also symbolizes the 4 cardinal directions & the goddesses symbolize the 4 seasons. The hieroglyphics on the side explain the meaning further. There's a here is a hidden imagine painted on the calendar that you can only see in the dark. Bought in Cairo & it's stamped for authenticity on the back. This papyrus is darker because the strips were soaked & pressed longer than the lighter colored ones, which causes the edges to have a fringed appearance. You'll notice pin holes which is also part of the process.
