1940s telephone purses were novelty handbags made from coiled plastic "telephone wire" or telephone cords, a creative use of materials during wartime rationing. These collectible bags were popular for their unique, colorful, and sculptural designs, often featuring geometric patterns and bold Art Deco lines.
This is an absolutely amazing 1940s telephone purse. Please look at all pictures. There is a loose cord on the strap of the purse. An easy fix for a seamstress. This purse is in really good shape for being as old as it is. There is some discoloration on the white cord, and a bit of sticky on the loose red cord. That can also be removed very easily. I am choosing not to mess with it, in case the buyer wants to keep as is.
