Art nouveau brooch with gemstones designed by Alling Co.
Beautiful antique brooch, created during the art nouveau period in Newark United States by the jewelry makers Alling Company, dating back 1900. This rare piece has been crafted with intricate details and curvilinear patterns in solid yellow gold of 14 karats. Embellished with applications of glossy green hot enamel and accented with an arrangement of natural white round pearls. It is fitted at the reverse with a hinged horizontal bar and a security hook to wear as a brooch. An alternative hook to hang a little pocket watch.
Peridot: Mount in the center in a bezel setting, with 1 oval faceted cut of a natural green peridot of about 1.35 carats.
Pearls: Accented with 8 semi round white pearls, graduated between 1 to 2.9 mm
Birthstone: Peridot for the month of August.
Weight: 4.65 Grams, (2.98 Dwt.).
Measurements: 30 mm by 22 mm (1.18 x 0.87 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark associated to Alling Company inside a clover cartouche, the mark for the assay of the gold and Inscribed with inventory numbers, "1698 14KT A". In addition was electronically tested for 14kt gold.

The company was founded in 1836 by Stephen B. Alling and Isaac Alling, they both were jewelers together. They were located in Newark, New Jersey. They manufactured gold jewelry for leading retailers such: J.E. Caldwell, M.W. Galt, C.D. Peacock, Bailey, Banks Biddle, Tiffany Co. and many others
