All the Rivers, tells the poignant story of an intense love affair between Liat, an Israeli translation student, and Hilmi, a Palestinian artist, who meet in New York City. Loosely based on the author's own life, the novel explores a relationship that flourishes in the neutral territory of Manhattan but remains "untenable" back in their conflicted homelands. While the book was an immediate success, it gained significant international attention after being banned from Israel's high school curriculum for its depiction of a "taboo" relationship, ultimately becoming a symbol of free speech and dialogue.
