A bit of history Abington was started in 1908, producing China plumbing fixtures, including those at the Chicago Worlds Fair in 1933., in Abingdon Illinois. To keep in business going during the Depression, they began producing artware in 1934.
They used clay from Georgia and England, feldspar from South Dakota, and sand from Illinois. The artware was sold nationwide in fine departments
store including Marshall Fields, Gimbals, and Wananakers. An increase for the plumbing fixtures led to the software stopping production in 1950.
They are still in business today as part of Briggs Industries.
