These well done pieces are reminiscent of the Victorian era. The Queen went into mourning upon Prince Albert's passing and discarded her more opulent jewels for a more subdued look. Her court naturally followed suit. Marcasite supposedly protects the wearer from negativity. These pieces have taken a more modern approach and are considered the glamorous marcasite of our century.
