What a fun & quirky piece to add to your industrial office ephemera collection! By Orion of Bloomsburg, PA, it’s patented 1887 & is a cast iron school desk inkwell with a glass insert. Measuring 2”x1-1/4”, the top flips up, & the glass insert fits perfectly inside! In amazing condition, it’s scarce to find these days, & consistent with age & use, the cast iron has extremely minimal rust, & the glass insert (which almost always is not found with the well!) has a few flea bites on the edge, which are smooth to the touch, so I believe that they are quite old, please view magnified last pic before glowy pic. Now for the super cool part - uranium was used in the molten mix of the glass, so when exposed under UV light, it glows a bright neon green! It’s a completely different & eclectic piece to add to your uranium cabinet! Part of an extensive collection of inkwells, fountain pens, & office ephemera that is slowly being listed in my closet, it’s priced to sell!
