ANTIQUE CARVED WOODEN AINU BEAR WITH FISH HOKKAIDO JAPAN

A handsome wood carving reflecting the craftsmanship of Japanese artisans. This is a wood carving of a bear carrying a fish within its mouth. It has impeccable carving details and is believed to originate the from Hokkaido Ainu indigenous groups. This folk art piece is in great condition with clear detail on the bear and salmon. This is an antique piece so there are some various minor scratches. There is a maker's mark on the one the bottom of one bear foot. This carving measures 9 inches long by 5 1/2 inches tall.
