The brand initially focused on women's dresses, founded by designer Albert Goldberg and his wife Pearl, especially for the professional and formal wear markets. Under the label Ma Mère, she designed an innovative maternity clothing line, including the first one-piece maternity dress. That company eventually had 100 stores across the US.
