Beautiful 1960’s Jane Shilton pleated leather handbag, featuring a highly recognizable faux-tortoise shell Lucite frame and an oversized dual-ball kiss-lock clasp.
The Jane Shilton company was founded in London in 1933 by Alexander Shilton, who famously renamed the brand to honor his wife and secretary, Jane, after she successfully kept the factory running and repurposed it to make gas masks during World War II. Throughout the mid-20th century, the brand built a massive reputation across the UK and internationally for crafting high-quality, elegant leather goods with a distinct handmade feel.
Very good condition. Please note small green blue discolouration(Verdigris) around brass hardware of the purse. Picture added to show.
