This substantial porcelain stein features colorful military and cavalry scenes, German inscriptions, regimental name rosters, and decorative multicolor borders with gold accents. The ornate hinged pewter lid is marked ERBO ZINN and features an elaborate crown finial and decorative figural thumb lift. The base contains a translucent portrait lithophane of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, dramatically revealed when holding the inside of the base up to a light source (as if drinking from the stein). Measures approximately 12.375" tall overall with an approximately 4.5" base. Actual stein weight is 2 lb 9.8 oz. Marked Theo Kühn, Bavaria Germany, Burgwindheim. This is a later historical reproduction-style regimental stein and is not represented as an original 19th-century military stein.
