Beautiful vintage Weinberg Paris par Auckie Sanft double-breasted blazer, Made in France. A wonderful example of classic European tailoring with a distinctly Ralph Lauren/English-country feel. The blazer features a timeless Glen plaid / Prince of Wales-style check, structured shoulders, notched lapels, six-button double-breasted front and a longer tailored silhouette. The woven label pairs Weinberg Paris with Auckie Sanft, the historic Montreal fashion manufacturer associated with the Canadian fashion industry and the distribution/representation of European fashion. The garment itself is confirmed by its original tag as Fabriqué en France / Made in France. The outer fabric is an elevated suiting blend of 55% laine peignée (combed/worsted wool) and 45% viscose, giving the blazer the structure of wool with beautiful drape and softness. Fully lined in 100% polyester. Based on the label, construction and styling, I believe this piece dates approximately to the late 1970s–early 1980s.
