This piece is a classic Vintage Christmas Tree Brooch designed by Mode Art (commonly marked and known as ART or ART©) and is from my mom's jewelry box. Maker's Mark: The back of the tree stem is stamped ART© (Art Mode Jewelry Creations). Design Features: Cast in a heavy, textured gold-tone metal with a textured, branch-like pine tree structure, frosted white cold-enamel "snow" tipping on the outer boughs, a brown chevron-patterned pot base, and multi-colored prong-set rhinestones (red, blue, yellow) arranged like garland/ornaments, topped with a star containing a clear rhinestone. Era & History Approximate Age: 1950s–1960s (Mid-Century). History: Mode Art (Art Mode Jewelry Creations, Inc.) was founded by Arthur Pepper in New York City in the late 1940s and produced jewelry through the 1970s. ART was well-known for its intricate, Victorian-revival, figural, and seasonal costume jewelry designs. Holiday pins produced by ART in the 1960s are among the most recognizable and collected vintage Christmas tree pins today.
