Front Caption / Historical Text: "Ciudad Juarez, México, was settled by the Spanish in 1549 and named 'El Paso del Norte'. During that year this church, with its intricate handcarved ceiling and altar, and its walls of sundried brick, was erected, the bells coming from Spain. For centuries antecedent the city clock their chimes from this ancient belfry tolled the hour of the day and the night. September 16, 1888, in memory of the greatest son of the land, this quaint old city was honored with his name." Bottom Caption: "Iglesia de Guadalupe. A. D. 1549."
