Antique Victorian Gold Guilted Gesso Wooden Wall Mirror, French Louis Style

This antique mirror is dated to be from the early 1900s. It features an ornate gold guilted painted gesso over carved wood design with a flower etching detail on mirror. The frame has some chipping of the gesso in a few areas, mainly on the corners. Please review pictures closely. The mirror itself has some age spots known as mirror rot or de-silvering. This is not a hazard. It is oxidation of the reflective metallic backing, caused by trapped moisture. This can be “fixed” with modern sprays and materials but I think it would lose its aged beauty. Many people are taking modern mirrors and making them looked aged. The backing has been replaced with a piece of board like material by someone else. I have not opened up the back to see if there’s any markings on the back of the actual mirror. It’s held together with aged antique nails and don’t want to ruin the integrity of the piece. This is a beautiful antique piece that would look lovely in a hallway, on top of a mantle stacked with other pieces, or on any wall needing some character.
