This is a vintage mid-century ceramic "hugger" salt and pepper shaker (depicting a Dutch character) manufactured by Van Tellingen.
Produced by Van Tellingen in the 1940s to 1950s, famous for their nesting or interlocking "hugger" and "smooching" novelty shakers.
Glossy white glazed ceramic with hand-painted blue, yellow, and red facial/clothing accents featuring a sweet sleeping or kissing expression. No chips, cracks or stains. In excellent vintage condition.
Selling this one as a replacement piece as I dropped and broke the other in the set on accident.
