Vintage framed Kanab Wonderstone featuring a natural slice of patterned sandstone from the Kanab, Utah area. The stone displays naturally occurring bands and swirls in warm shades of rust, rose, ochre, brown and cream. It is mounted against a coarse burlap backing and presented in its original aged wooden frame, giving the piece a distinctive Southwestern and mid-century souvenir-art character. The original paper label remains on the back and identifies the material as "Kanab WONDERSTONE." The label explains that the sandstone was naturally formed and colored by minerals and oxides and was not altered other than being sawn into slabs. The label has considerable age-related wear and paper loss but remains partially legible. The frame retains its original sawtooth hanger and measures approximately 7" wide × 5.5" tall × 1" deep. Weight is approximately 11 oz. This is a vintage piece with age and wear throughout. The wood frame shows scratches, small marks and separation/wear at some of the joints. Portions of the original frame construction are missing along the back edges, as shown in the photos. These issues are largely concealed when the piece is displayed, and the frame appears structurally intact. Please review all photos closely for condition and construction details. Acrylic display stand shown in photographs is not included. A distinctive piece of vintage Utah souvenir art for a Southwestern, desert, geological, natural history, rustic or eclectic interior.
