Red Wing Shoes 6-inch work/hiker boot, men's size 9D. Factory sample pair. Brown nubuck leather upper with black padded leather collar, RW Waterproof tag at the quarter, and molded rubber ankle shields embossed RED WING SHOES on both sides. Vibram outsole with two-tone lug pattern and a Vibram-branded rubber toe rand. Welted construction with corded midsole trim. Eyelets with speed hooks at the top, Red Wing branded footbed and lining, original black/red/tan patterned laces. This is a factory sample, not a retail pair. The interior tag reads 9D SAMPLE NOT FOR RESALE MADE IN CHINA, and there is a small cleanly punched hole through the top of one tongue consistent with a sample void mark. There is no style number anywhere on the boot — no tongue label back, no shaft interior, no outsole stamp — which is typical of pre-production samples. The build is comparable to Red Wing's TruHiker line, but I cannot match it to a specific production style number and am not representing it as one. Toe type is not marked and there is no ASTM label on this pair. A magnet does not stick to the toe, so it is not a steel toe. Beyond that I can't confirm whether it is soft, aluminum, or composite, so I'm not stating one. Buy this as a sample and a wearable boot, not as rated safety footwear. Condition is very good.
