Beautiful vintage hand-painted bentwood box featuring a charming bride and groom in a romantic wedding scene. The oval box is decorated in a traditional folk-art style with a black background, detailed gold and red scrollwork, bluebirds, hearts, flowers, and wedding bells. The bride and groom are beautifully hand painted on the lid, giving this piece a distinctive handcrafted character. The underside of the lid is personally inscribed: “Painted with love for Jerry & Pat May 1, 1982” The artist's initials “PKH” are also visible on the piece. The box has a removable lid and a shallow open interior with its own hand-painted decorative border. The sides feature additional hand-painted floral/foliate decoration.
