GIANFRANCO FERRÉ c.1999 Navy & White Striped Two-Piece Mini & Maxi Ensemble NWOT

Gianfranco Ferré plays with transparency and proportion in this clever play on mini versus maxi. The ensemble pairs semi-sheer, long outer layers with mini-sized knit counterparts underneath, both layers having the same navy and white striped design. The semi-sheer organza tunic is covering a shorter knit top with stripes that correspond to the tunic; the two pieces are attached only at the neckline and armholes. The long organza skirt is covering a mini version of itself that matches the knit top, attached to the skirt at the waist. The top is a pullover style with no separate closure, and the skirt closes with a back zipper. We're dating the set to the 1990s, likely 1999. The fabrics are listed as follows: 45% silk, 30% viscose, and 25% cotton. I would attribute the silk content to the organza-like top and skirt, and the other fibers to the knit top and skirt. Labeled Italian size 42 which can correspond to a US size 6 or 8; this set is closer to a size 6. TOP MEASUREMENTS* - Underarm chest measurement is 42" - Bottom sweep is 40" - Length is 27" down center back. - Overblouse is same chest size and 2" larger on sides. - Overblouse is 28" down center back. SKIRT MEASUREMENTS* - Waist is 26.5" (not stretchy) - Hips are 34" - Length is 18" - Overskirt hips measure 36" - Overskirt length is 36" CONDITION Excellent condition with no apparent flaws.
