Title: Mother’s Treasures by Arthur John Elsley (1860–1952) painted in 1911, published by C.W. Faulkner & Co. Ltd., London E.C., England, printed in 1912 as Supplement to The Family Herald and Weekly Star, Montreal, Canada Large-format photogravure (or high-quality photomechanical print) after Elsley’s original painting. The image shows a tender Edwardian domestic interior: a young mother in a long gown gently supports a smiling toddler taking early steps, while a slightly older child reaches upward with outstretched arms. A playful kitten bathes and toys on the patterned rug in the foreground. A rocking horse, fireplace, and framed pictures complete the warm, intimate setting. Arthur J. Elsley was one of the most popular British painters of children and domestic life in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras. His works were widely reproduced as fine prints, calendar illustrations, and magazine supplements. C.W. Faulkner & Co. was a leading London art publisher of the period, known for high-quality photogravures and popular prints. The print shows expected age-related toning and wear consistent with a 110+ year-old newspaper supplement. The image area retains good tonal range and detail. No major tears or losses are apparent in the main image, though the wide margins show typical aging. This is an original period print, not a modern reproduction. Suitable for framing as a decorative piece of early 20th-century art.
