Vintage burgundy/wine and ivory woven geometric check fabric, approximately 5 yards × 44” wide. An unusual woven design combining vertical stripes with alternating rectangular/check motifs in deep burgundy and ivory. The pattern is created through the weave rather than printed. The face of the fabric has a relatively smooth, clean appearance with subtle woven texture. The reverse reveals small yarn floats and clipped/fringed ends associated with the construction of the pattern; these are inherent to the weave and should not be mistaken for damage. Lightweight woven fabric with some transparency and enough body to hold the geometric design. Fiber content is unknown. Likely approximately 1960s–1970s, although exact age, maker and fiber content are unknown. A particularly nice 5-yard continuous length, suitable for dresses, skirts, blouses, vintage-inspired apparel, costume sewing or other textile projects.
