Thehe back is double layered. There's a breathable lining that hangs down a little longer that gives more coverage. The shorts in the inside have grips that go around the thigh to help keep it from moving (there are a few loose threads and some stitching coming out on that part). It's all on the inside so it's not noticable. It has two normal pockets and one hidden one on the sides. The back has one pocket on the butt. Waistband is elastic. Waist is 16 1/2". Length is 16 1/2" down the back.
