Beautiful vintage mid-century traditional Japanese geta sandals. These were brought back to the US by a serviceman stationed in the Pacific theater in the late 1940s / early 1950s as a military souvenir. Features a vibrant pink-lacquered wooden base with the iconic two-tooth ("ha") platform design and hand painted flower. The plush, deep red velvet straps (hanao) feature lovely silver crane motifs. Era: 1940s / 1950s Showa Era Material: Lacquered wood, velvet upper, metallic embroidery Condition: Good vintage condition with beautiful character. Shows light cosmetic wear, minor scuffs, and small areas of paint/lacquer loss on the wooden edges consistent with age and storage. Struts and straps are completely secure and intact.
