Vintage Italian 800 silver convertible pendant and brooch featuring a finely painted portrait traditionally identified as the Delphic Sibyl. According to family history it was purchased in Italy following a visit to the Sistine Chapel in the 60s/70s. The oval portrait is bezel-set within an ornate cast openwork scrolling silver frame and finished with an engraved tapered bail. The reverse is stamped 800, indicating 80% silver, and includes a functional pin back, so it can be worn as a pendant or brooch. The portrait is mounted beneath a smooth glossy surface on a white insert. The exact artistic medium is unknown, but it appears to be a painted glazed portrait rather than an exposed painted surface. Good vintage condition with a natural silver patina and light wear consistent with age. The portrait remains well preserved, and both the pin clasp and pendant bail are functional.
