Antique Victorian Cameo Brooch Pin Glass Paste Profile Gold Gilt Twist Frame c. 1870 This is a beautiful, authentic late Victorian-era (circa 1870–1890) cameo brooch featuring a striking neoclassical female profile. The crisp portrait is crafted from molded white glass paste, a popular and durable medium of the 19th century that retains sharp, elegant details. The cameo is housed in its original ornate oval frame featuring a twisted ribbon border. The setting is crafted from a durable silver-toned base metal that was heavily fire-gilded; it shows a lovely authentic patina with honest age-related wear revealing hints of the base metal on the highest relief edges. The reverse features a solid backing plate and a traditional extended pin mechanism that reaches beyond the frame, characteristic of genuine 19th-century engineering.
