Antique 1920’s Whiting and Davis “Flapper” Evening Bag

Early Art Deco painted enamel "Armor Mesh" bag from Whiting and Davis…dating between 1924 and 1928. In wonderful condition. The enameled tiles are still bright and the design is crisp. Clean inside and out. Unlined to accentuate the beautiful drape of the mesh. Tiny stamped tag attached directly inside edge of frame reads “Whiting and Davis Co. Mesh Bags, Reg. US and CAN”. A beautiful example of classic Art Deco/Jazz Era fashion. This particular stippled textured frame style was a hallmark of their mainstream mid-1920s geometric line, designed to catch the light beautifully without relying on expensive glass jewels.
