An authentic Silver (I believe) Berber (Amazigh) tribal necklace from North Africa, likely Morocco or Algeria, dating to the early 20th century. The necklace is hand-crafted from repurposed silver coins, one of which bears the Arabic date 1320 AH (1902–1903 CE).
The necklace is composed of five linked coin medallions connected by woven silver chain sections, with coral beads. The coral beads are in a variety of shapes/sizes and textures. The closure is a fibula-style pin clasp, formed from two large coin disks joined by an arched wire hook and pointed pin.
Frame Measures Roughly 17" x 18"
Necklace Measures Roughly 32" End-to-End
The condition appears to be very good. I believe this necklace may be missing 7 of the smaller-sized coins. This item is professionally framed and preserved in shadow box. I have not removed the necklace from the frame.
