Rare 1920s Taishō Era Kurohikifurisode Kimono * Agnes Moorehead Provenance

An extraordinary Taishō-era (1912-1926) Kurohikifurisode featuring exquisite hand-applied yuzen-dyed designs on black silk crepe. The sweeping landscape motif includes waves, florals, bamboo, clouds, and courtly elements in celadon, lavender, peach, ivory, and gold tones. Fully lined (awase) and a beautiful example of early 20th-century Japanese textile artistry. Family provenance suggests the kimono may have once belonged to actress Agnes Moorehead, who taught in Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin before finding fame in Hollywood. While I have no documentation to verify this story, the piece comes from a respected local family who has cared for it since the 1930s. It is priced for the kimono itself, not the attribution.
