Native American Pottery Storyteller Angel Signed '93 Jo Venia 7 Children/2 Sheep

This is a Southwestern-style storyteller figurine signed "Jo Venia" and dated 1993. It features a winged singing Angel with closed eyes and an open mouth, cradling seven children total, six wrapped in black and brown blanket bundles and one swaddled baby resting in a nest of coiled pink clay. Two textured sheep sit at the base. The wings are hand-painted with a brown and turquoise scalloped border, and the figure wears a painted turquoise dot necklace. The piece is signed "Jo Venia '93 ©" on the underside, with an old paper label also present. No tribal affiliation is indicated on the piece, so it is offered as Southwestern-style pottery rather than attributed to a specific Native American tribe or pueblo. Condition This is a pre-owned vintage pottery piece with minor surface scuffs and nicks consistent with age. There are some marks on the wing tips, a spot on the nose, and on one of the boots at the base. These marks may be either small chips or firing/kiln marks.
