This antique Victorian portrait brooch features a hand-painted porcelain oval depicting a young woman in traditional Greek or Ottoman-era court costume — a crimson velvet jacket richly embroidered in gold, a white draped chemise, and a red fez with a braided gold tassel — rendered against a soft blue sky background. The miniature is set in a braided brass rope bezel frame fitted with a period-correct tube hinge and C-clasp. The costume is consistent with the Greek national court dress popularized in the mid-19th century, and the composition is similar to widely circulated portraits of the era, possibly inspired by images of Katerina "Rosa" Botsaris — celebrated Greek courtier, daughter of Greek War of Independence hero Markos Botsaris, and subject of an 1841 portrait by Bavarian court painter Joseph Karl Stieler now housed in the Gallery of Beauties at Nymphenburg Palace in Munich.
