Szeki Hungarian Transylvanian Handmade Folk Jacket with Peplum

Original handmade folk jacket from the Hungarian village of Szek (Sic in Romanian), in Transylvania, Romania. Szek is well known for the preservation of its traditional folk dress, music, and dance. Jacket is black velveteen. Collar has narrow pleated self edging & decorative black velveteen diamond shaped accents. Gathered shoulders Tiny pleats down front, accented with black velveteen band from shoulders and at front opening. Front opening also accented with black narrow pleating. Sleeves feature horizontal pleats and bands of black velveteen, with wide black velvet at cuff. Pleated peplum from waist Pointed back yoke; vertical pleats to waist. Closes with 8 buttons. Combination of hand- and machine stitching Lined in black & white polka dot rather heavy cotton. Sleeves are also lined.
