He is also the visionary who started Restoration Hardware in 1979. Gordon founded Guideboat Co. with a vision of manufacturing and curating an amazing collection of well-made and long lasting items, loosely organized around collection of boats and a nautical theme. Despite being considered, "the best clothing shop in the Bay," the venture folded in 2018, making the remaining clothes highly collectible and desirable.
