This stunning Art Deco opera coat is incredible! From the soft black velvet and silk lining to the Art Deco buttons and ruching on the sleeves, this coat is a work of art. The piece dates to 1933 or 34, when the National Recovery Administration's "Blue Eagle" emblem was used on labels by clothing manufacturers to let consumers know who was following these policies. The act went into effect in 1933 and the first dress label was sewn into a garment in 1934. Labels disappeared from garments in 1935, when the Supreme Court ruled the NRA unconstitutional.
