This specific jacket is a true vintage piece from the late 1980s rather than a mid-2000s Y2K reproduction, and in amazing condition. It is an authentic Wilsons S/L61282 Leather Caramel Suede & Embossed Western Coat - Oversized Fit with detachable thinsulate liner, and features a distinct Pattern and Material Run ID, an internal factory inspection stamp '2006' (employee tracking code, not the production year), and heavy woven tags and liners, unlike the sleek silver printed ones we see after the mid 00s rebranding.
While the parent company, Wilsons Leather, tracked and registered these internal numbers at their corporate headquarters in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, the physical manufacture and quality control stamping occurred overseas.During the late 1980s and early 1990s, nearly all of Wilsons intricately paneled suede and embossed garments carrying this exact style number sequence were manufactured in South Korea or Indonesia. These regions hosted the specialized textile facilities capable of handling the heavy-duty machinery required to press the deep, western-style floral embossing into the leather collar.
Design features include low-slung double-button closure, dramatic draped notch collar, slouchy deep front slip pockets, and adjustable rolled cuffs. Wilsons items from this particular style lot run notoriously large. See measurements:
p2p = 28"
length = 36"
shoulder + sleeve length = 69"
A rare find in impeccable condition.
