Vintage Crushed-Rose Petal Lavender Bead Necklace Tassel Flapper Victorian. The beads were traditionally handcrafted by cooking pounds of rose petals into a thick, clay-like paste which was then hand-molded and dried. This artisanal process resulted in the textured, organic floral shapes. Lavender rose beads are accented with alternate clear glass beads and feature a tassel. Long length as in Flapper style. Necklace is very light weight and easily layered with other accent pieces. Historically, rose petal beads were used in prayer strings and later became popular as statement jewelry in the early to mid 20th century. I received this from the estate of an elderly aunt several years ago and am downsizing my collection. Very good condition considering it's age. No flaws in the beads I could detect.
