"A Morning Treat" - Fruit Still Life American Antique Lithograph Yard Long Print c. 1900, Signed J. Califano
J. Califano's yard long prints are antique lithographs known for their 36" length. He is known for his fruit and flower still life works. "A Morning Treat" is a known American titled lithograph that dates from the 1890's to 1907.
Firstly, there is a lot of reflection of lines and my ceiling vent, phone etc. showing on the glass. I couldn't seem to get around it, so pay no mind and realize it is only reflection and not marks in the print. This one is a beautiful richly colored antique print that is non-faded and in the original pattern-carved, color-stained wood frame. I do not note any wrinkling or stains. I did find a small slit in the glass that looks to be the result of a thread size bubble burst at the glass surface. It is pointed out in the photo. There are some scant light dots/spots that are tiny bits of color loss near the edges - quite common in these old prints and are noted more on dark backgrounds. I pointed out the biggest one I saw. There are bound to be little dings or scratches somewhere on the frame, but nothing that I particularly noted. If you're 120-130 years old, you're not perfect.
This is a wonderful yard long and would look fantastic above a doorway in the kitchen or dining room. I love the carved geometric frame details. Beautiful print, beautiful frame! Ready to hang as it is. The back paper is in good condition also.
