This pretty box is a vintage Chinese silk embroidered jewelry or trinket box. These traditional decorative storage boxes became widely popular for export during the mid-to-late 20th century. Features a padded top panel lined with vibrant red silk fabric, contrasted by a sturdy black fabric-wrapped base. Decorated with detailed Chinoiserie hand-embroidery, showcasing a traditional motif of a songbird perched on a branch surrounded by plum blossoms and a butterfly. Utilizes a classic loop-and-toggle mechanism, consisting of flexible ribbon tabs and smooth white bone or faux-bone toggles to secure the lid. Interior opens to reveal a two tray layout, often containing built-in ring rolls, velvet padding, and a side tray for various small jewelry or trinkets. This box is in great condition.
