These are two Japanese Otagiri lacquerware trays. They feature a roadrunner with a southwestern background. If you’re not familiar with Couroc, they were based in California during this time and were very popular making phenolic resin trays. They had artists that collaborated with Otagiri in Japan and imported them through San Francisco. Many of the same designs were used on both products.
These are two Japanese mid-century modern wooden lacquer trays. Intended for parties or snacks. The art is beautifully done. There are some spots of missing gold on the trim, see pictures and some signs of use. But if you like mid-century modern like I do, these are fun to have.
