Original green frog painting by Moses Ernest Tolliver, the celebrated American folk artist. This flat representation frog Mose T painting and a great representative piece of MoseT's work. The painting is signed prominently with Tolliver's classic "MoseT" with the backwards S. Like most of Tolliver's paintings, this piece is done on salvaged wood. While Tolliver has other frog paintings, they are not among is most common creatures. Get it quick while frogs increase in popularity as the new symbol of resistance within US politics. The piece measures just over 10.5 inches wide and is 14 inches tall. It is just over 1/4 an inch thick. It comes equipped with Mose T's classic pop tab hanger, securely fastened. Condition as shown. Will be shipped carefully, wrapped and boxed. Mose Tolliver (1918–2006) was one of the South's most celebrated self-taught painters. Born in Montgomery, Alabama, he began painting in the 1960s after a workplace injury left him unable to walk easily. Using house paint on scrap wood, doors, or cardboard, Tolliver created bold, colorful images of people, animals, and imaginative figures, often outlined in black with playful simplicity drawn from his life experiences. His distinctive folk style earned national recognition, with works now in the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the High Museum of Art, and major folk art collections. Each piece reflects his joyful creativity and deep Alabama roots, making his work a cornerstone of Southern folk art.
