Here's what to know about this rare find, the antique "Imperial" cast iron and wood coffee mill. First, it appears to be from the late 1800s, making it an authentic piece of American kitchen history. This coffee mill was likely produced by the Arcade Manufacturing Co. (Freeport, IL) in the late 19th century. The Imperial model features the iconic embossed cast iron dome and hand-crank mechanism that defined the Victorian-era kitchen. Condition & Character: * Beautifully aged with original faded green/ochre paint over wood. (Someone may have tried to strip the paint, but that wasn't me.) Even with the paint missing, the wood shows a wonderful "alligatoring" texture and patina that only comes with 130+ years of history! This piece is missing the pullout drawer, but I have a piece of the drawer that I will ship when you buy the piece. The crank handle turns and the metal hopper door opens just fine. (See list photo.) * Cast iron top is intact with the "IMPERIAL" name clearly embossed. The sliding hopper door is present and functional. * Handle turns freely, and the internal grinding burrs are still in place. Notes: - Even without the drawer, this is a great primitive decor piece.
